Marv Hagedorn District 14 Senator

Growing up in Northern Idaho and working in the lumber mills has instilled strong Idaho roots and values in Marv. Before getting out of high school, Marv volunteered and enlisted in the US Navy where he served twenty years on active duty in the naval intelligence and cryptology community. After receiving a "field commission" for his leadership and management talents and upon returning to Idaho, Marv brought those proven skills he learned as a “Navy Mustang” and put them to work in the private sector. Marv managed business operations profit and loss for 2 different international companies and grew one from $7 million to $100 million per year, the other from startup to $3 million per year under his watch. He has negotiated and closed international business contracts valued over $200 million and is credited with three U.S. Patents in the creation of a special plazma for semiconductor manufacturing. Marv brings not only his strong work ethic to the table but years of technical, management and leadership experience building and maintaining relationships.

As a 6 year conservative member of the Idaho House of Representatives, Marv served on the Joint Finance Appropriations Committee, Transportation and Defense, Resources and Conservation and Business committees.  He now serves in the Idaho Senate on the Health and Welfare, Judiciary and Rules and Transportation committees.

Marv and his wife Patty make their home in Legislative District 14, in Western Ada County. He is the father of two children, John who served in the Army during the surge in Iraq for 15 months and Kristin who he commissioned as a Navy Ensign.  Both then followed their father’s footsteps serving their Nation in the Navy Reserves in intelligence positions. In his spare time, Marv is an avid outdoorsman and maintains an active role in many sportsman organizations across Idaho.  He is a life member of the Disabled Veterans Association, Life member of the NRA and N. American Fishing Assoc and a long time member of the American Legion Post 114.

He is also a co-founder of the Wyakin Warrior Foundation, that developed and operates the Academy for Wounded Warriors.  This is a multi-tiered mentorship, professional development and scholarship program supporting America’s wounded warriors. This program sponsors our nation’s heroes to attend college and specialized leadership development programs at BSU and CWI while assisting them in their transition from military duty to becoming community leaders.  The Wyakin Warrior Foundation has been named “Best in Class” by the USO.
